How exactly does blood pressure medication work ?

If blood pressure is the result of blood moving inefficiently or in a restricted manner around your body then how does blood pressure medication go about lowering it ? Does it contain something that expands your arteries ? Or some type of blood thinner ? Or does it merely slow your heart down ? Thanks for your replies

What causes blood pressure to rise when you get up? It is usually lowered when you stand?

I have a seriously ill family member who is currently experiencing his blood pressure rising to dangerous levels when he gets up which causes blackouts. Does anyone know what causes a rise in blood pressure when you get up he currently just had a MRI but I would like to know where to look on the net. Most things state that your blood pressure drops when rising.

Thanks for your answer but that is why I am having problems searching for this everyone is assuming that it is low. He blackouts and his pressure is tested and it is rising drastically.

How to increase low blood pressure?

I need to fudge the blood-pressure test to make my BP seem higher

I’ve looked online, but can only find tips like ‘drink more water’, ‘wear pressurised stockings’ and ‘eat more salt’, but aside from the water one, these wouldn’t be convenient in the short term.

Would maybe tensening my arm muscles or anything help make my blood pressure SEEM higher? How can I dodge the accuracy of the test?
